A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a paraprofessional who is specifically trained, competent, and performs assigned functions of health care for patients in their residence. This role is carried out under the direction, instruction, and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). As a Floater CNA, you will have the flexibility to work across multiple locations or assignments to ensure coverage where staffing needs arise, filling in when other CNAs are unavailable. This position requires adaptability and a strong commitment to patient care.
High school degree.
Must have a current and valid CNA Certificate.
Must meet Medicare Conditions of Participation for Home Health Aide training program and competency.
Must have a cell phone or a way to communicate with the office daily.
Previous working experience as a home health aide.
Proficiency in English.
Must be able to work independently and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Have a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick and elderly.
Caring and compassionate personality.
Valid driver’s license.
Current CPR certification.
Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
Completed a training program of 20 hours of classroom instruction with no less than five hours of practical experience, as required in Licensing Regulations for Home Nursing Care and Home Care Providers. Each trainee must pass the final examination to be eligible to function as a Home Health Aide.
Understand and adhere to established policies and procedures.
Complete appropriate visit records in a timely manner as per agency policy.
Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy patient environment by following standards and procedures, including security precautions, prescribed dietary requirements, and nutrition standards.
Provide companionship and basic psychological and emotional support to patients.
Report any changes in the patient’s condition to the RN.
Attend education programs as scheduled and necessary.
Provide personal care and related health care assistance to individuals who are disabled, sick, dependent, or infirm. Such care may include assistance with bathing, feeding, toileting, and related tasks.
Assist in medication reminders as instructed and per the patient’s care plan.
Work under the supervision of the assigned Registered Nurse, ensuring care is appropriate to the patient’s needs and consistent with care protocols.
As a Floater CNA, you will adapt to varying assignments across multiple locations, providing care and coverage where needed, and ensuring continuity of care for clients.
