A paraprofessional person who is specifically trained, competent and performs assigned functions of health care to the patient in the patient’s residence under the direction, instruction, and supervision of the registered nurse (RN).
1. High school degree.
2. Must have a current and valid HHA Certificate.
3. Must meet Medicare Conditions of Participation for Home Health Aide training program and competency.
4. Must have a cell phone or a way to communicate with the office daily,
5. Previous working experience as a home health aide,
6. Proficiency in English.
7. Must be able to work independently and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
8. Have a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick and elderly,
9. Caring and compassionate personality.
10. Valid driver’s license.
11. Current CPR certification.
12. Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
13. Has completed training program of 20 hours of classroom instruction with no less than five hours of practical experience, as required in Licensing Regulations for Home Nursing Care and Home Care Providers. Each trainee must pass the final examination in order to be eligible to function as a Home Health Aide.
1. Understand and adhere to established policies and procedures.
2. Complete appropriate visit records in a timely manner as per agency policy,
3. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy patient environment by following standards and procedures; maintain security precautions; follow prescribed dietary requirements and nutrition standards.
4. Provide companionship and basic psychological and emotional support.
5. Report changes in the patient’s condition to the RN.
6. Attend education programs as scheduled and necessary.
7. Provide personal care and related health care and assistance to individuals who are disabled, sick, dependent, or infirm. Such care must always be based on the Home Health Aide’s level of preparation. Home Health Aides may assist with bathing, feeding, toileting and related tasks. They may remind the patient to self-administer medication. Home Health Aides work under the supervision of the assigned Registered Nurse.
